Shakira And Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember To Forget You” Explodes At Radio

Shakira And Rihanna‘s “Can’t Remember To Forget You” has been warmly embraced by radio. The high-profile duet made its debut yesterday (January 13) and received 1,172 first-day spins on 143 stations. That equates to 11 million audience impressions.

The quirky, ska-flavored collaboration hasn’t been as popular on iTunes. Shakira and Rihanna are currently sitting at number seven on their sales countdown, which is an impressive achievement but not quite the speedy march to number one that many fans were expecting.

Is “Can’t Remember To Forget You” a grower? Have your say in the comments below.

Rihanna Got A New Cross Tattoo On Her Wrist

Rihanna's body is fairly well inked at this point, but that didn't stop her from adding to the canvas this weekend. The singer stopped by New York's Bang Bang Tattoos to add a large cross to the tribal design that already decorated her wrist and hand.

Rihanna is a big fan of tattoo artists Bang Bang McCurdy and Cally–Jo, who work out of the Lower East Side Manhattan tattoo parlor. Back in October, the duo flew down to the Dominican Republic to give the star a henna–inspired tattoo on her right wrist and hand. They worked around Rihanna's existing tribal Maori tattoo as they carefully drew and tattooed the intricate design.

So, it's no surprise that the "Stay" singer returned to Bang Bang Tattoos early Saturday morning (Jan. 11) to add to the design. Reportedly, Rihanna stayed at the shop from midnight until 5 a.m. getting a cross added on the inside of her wrist.

What's your thoughts on Nigeria's anti-gay law?

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has assented to a bill outlawing gay relationships and same-sex marriage, effectively putting the legislation to use several months after it was passed by the two arms of the National Assembly.

With the president’s signature, anyone convicted for getting involved in gay relationship or entering into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union faces up to 14 years in jail.
It is also a crime to have a meeting of homosexuals, or to operate or attend a gay club, society or organization. Public show of same-sex intimate affection is also outlawed. Offenders may be jailed for up to 10 years.

Tolu Ogunlesi writes open letter to President Jonathan

It's a season of open letters...here's another one from award winning journalist & social commentator Tolu Ogunlesi to the president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan...
Dear Mr. President,
I am constrained to write this open letter to you before this season of letters comes to a close. I will go straight to the issues at stake. Let’s start with the level of toxic-ness in the air, sustained to a large extent by the attitude of your array of spokespersons, who today do little more than insult and dismiss everyone deemed to be an “enemy” of the President. Just as you have a point when you said that the easiest way to be deemed “progressive” is to abuse Jonathan, it has also become that criticising the President quickly earns one all sorts of unprintable labels from the your camp.

In the letter, Obasanjo said although he is still a card carrying member of the party, he will withdraw his activities with PDP at local, state, zonal and national level until a person he describes as a criminal wanted abroad to face criminal charges is removed as the party's South West zonal leader.

Obasanjo proceeded to add that he was forwarding with the letter, “recent documents” on the alleged activities of the person. The letter, dated January 7th, was obtained by Tribune. See it after the cut...

Singer Ciara writes an open letter to bloggers

It's a season of open letters and singer Ciara has written one to bloggers. Lol. She's sick to death of negative bloggers and comments and pens an open letter urging people to stop...

Ciara writes on her personal blog,
I used to sometimes like visiting some of the blog sites to see what new things are happening in the world! Things like cool photos, current events, etc. But nowadays it seems like there's a competition with sites on "Who Can Tear Someone Down the Most." The stories are going from cool and creative to pure drama. Even the comment sections are beginning to get out of control and people are using the platforms to exercise a false sense of power.

Acid victim Naomi Oni's alleged attacker finally nabbed. It was her friend!

21 year old acid victim Naomi Oni was disfigured for life after an unknown person wearing a Niqāb threw acid in her face as she walked home from work on Sunday December 30th 2012 in Lodge Avenue Dagenham, east London.
