    Pope Francis has picked up yet another year-end honor which may be his most surprising yet!

    Esquire named him “The Best Dressed Man of 2013,” chiefly for the symbolism of his papal style choices. Pope Francis has largely avoided splendor, and is most commonly seen in a plain white robe and skullcap. He chose the simplest papal ring out of those proposed to him, and passed over the red leather shoes that were previously a customary part of papal dress.

The magazine explains:

    Pope Francis has been big on symbolic gestures—paying his own bill at a hotel owned by the Church or washing the feet of inmates (two of whom were female) on Holy Thursday—and the black shoes and unadorned, simplistic regalia are just an outward acknowledgement of his progressive orthodoxy. “Pope Francis understands that menswear is meant to express the character of the man wearing the clothes,” says Mary Lisa Gavenas, author of The Fairchild Encyclopedia of Menswear, before adding: “No rapper-style popewear for him.”

    True, the opulent jewelry and fur-lined capes of yore have given way to humbler dress, and this break from aesthetic tradition says a lot of the man and what he hopes to achieve while doing his earthly duties. He’s certainly been the most approachable Pope in recent memory, one who tweets his gospel, takes selfies, sneaks out of his modest apartment (he declined moving into the Apostolic Palace) in a disguise to help the poor, and even hangs out with Patti Smith.

Why I Parted Ways With Jonathan – Femi Fani-Kayode Reveals SHOCKING Allegations

Former Minister of Aviation and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that he parted ways with President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan due to what he described as insincerity of the president in resolving the Boko Haram insurgency.

 According to him, the president as the chief security officer of the nation should be held responsible for the lives of over 7,000 Nigerians that were wasted in the last three years.

He further said, ‘’I don’t think the war against Boko Haram  by this government is sincere , if indeed, it’s Boko Haram and not the government that is behind it.

“May be they have a hidden agenda to ensure that by 2015, the situation will be so bad that  elections cannot hold in some parts of the country, because they know if elections hold in those areas, they will woefully be defeated.’’

Waitress Accused Of Forcing A Man At Gunpoint To Have S*X With Her Friend

A fast food waitress from suburban Chicago has been charged with s*xual assault on a man, who told police that the 25-year-old had forced him to have s*x with her friend in the backseat of a car after offering him a ride.

Cierra Ross, a mother of two from Olympia Fields, was arrested Tuesday for her part in the alleged r*pe of a 33-year-old man.

According to police, the victim was walking in the 400 block of North Kingsbury when Miss Ross pulled up next op him and offered him a lift home.

More than two years after the mysterious death of Pastor Zachery Tims in a New York City hotel room, the cause is now known: a toxic, fatal combination of cocaine and heroin.

The New York Medical Examiner’s Office released the cause of death Thursday after a drawn-out legal battle by the Apopka preacher’s mother, Madeline Tims, to keep the cause sealed.

The NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner’s release says Tims died of “acute intoxication by the combined effects of cocaine and heroin. Manner of death: Accident.” The release came after a New York appellate court ruling Dec. 10 upheld a lower court decision that the Medical Examiner’s office had the authority to release the cause of death, according to a spokesperson with the law firm representing Madeline Tims.

Somalia bans Christmas celebrations

 The Somali Government has banned celebration of Christian festivities in the country.

A directive released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Justice and Religious Affairs stated that no Christian festivities could be held in Somalia.

The Director General of the ministry, Sheikh Mohamed Khayrow Aden, and the Director of the Religious Matters, Sheikh Ali Sheikh Mohamud alias Sheikh Ali Dhere, held a press conference in the capital Mogadishu, to make the announcement.

The ban came just hours before Christmas Day, when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, their spiritual saviour.

“We alert fellow Muslims in Somalia that some festivities to mark Christian Days will take place around the world in this week,” said Sheikh Ali Dhere during the press conference, adding: “It is prohibited to celebrate those days in this country.”

Mr Aden, on his part, stated that all security and law enforcement agencies had been instructed to counter any such celebrations.

He added that copies of the directive were delivered to hotels and other meeting places in Mogadishu.

The officials did not say anything on whether non-Muslim foreign workers or residents could celebrate or not.

It is the first time that a Somali government bans the celebrations since the last central government collapsed in 1991.

 Mother of two Mariah Carey says she's done having kids and if her husband Nick Cannon wants more children, he will have to get pregnant and have the babies himself.
