Hollywood celebrities are adding star power to the Renaissance splendor of Florence, as VIPs arrive for what is rumoured to be the wedding of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in a 16th-century fort.
The city's mayor's office has said the couple rented Belvedere Fort for a wedding to be performed Saturday by a Protestant minister.
Among the notable sightings in town were Steve McQueen, director of Oscar-winner "12 Years a Slave," and Lala Anthony, wife of NY Knicks basketball star Carmelo Anthony. Also spotted was a Givenchy shopping bag carried by the VIPs' aides, containing what Sky TG24 TV said was a white and lacey garment

The reality TV star and West were spotted shopping at Givenchy in Paris earlier this week.
West, 36, proposed to Kardashian, 33, in October.

Jay Z and Beyoncé didn't attend Kanye West's wedding.
The 'Holy Grail' hitmaker, who was expected to be his close friend and collaborator's best man, reportedly decided to spend the weekend with his wife in The Hamptons in favour of attending the rapper's nuptials to Kim Kardashian, 33, in Florence Saturday.
Sources told UsMagazine.com that Jay Z, 44, bailed on the couple's wedding at the Forte di Belvedere at the last minute, as he wanted to enjoy a quiet Memorial Day holiday weekend with Beyoncé and their two-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.
Shortly before the extravagant wedding got under way, Beyoncé, who is said to have a "frosty" relationship with Kardashian, also signalled to fans she wouldn't be present, as she posted a make-up free photograph of herself in bed on Instagram.
Jay Z and Beyoncé's absence came as a surprise, as the rapper has been friends with West, 36, for more than 14 years and have recorded and toured together many times.
