The tallest man in the US has to buy $15,000 shoes!

Igor Vovkivinskiy of Rochester, Minn is the tallest recorded man in the US: he’s 7 feet, 8 inches or 2.33 meters. Sadly, he is not that tall due to natural causes, a tumor in his pituitary gland was responsible for his large growth. He was over 6 feet tall when he was 7!

One of the problems he faces is that he has a hard time finding shoes his size. For the last six or seven years, he doesn’t even know what size shoes he wears. He’s had 15 foot surgeries and was down to a lone pair of shoes. The surgeries have left him in a wheel chair.

In 2005, he got a pair of custom made size 26 shoes, but the surgeries have changed the shape of his feet. When he contacted a number of shoe makers about making him new pairs, only one came back and quoted him at $15,000!
