Seth MacFarlane as Oscars host? Old news. That's because Ellen DeGeneres has been tapped to host the 2014 show.
"It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars!" the daytime talk show host, 55, confirmed via Twitter on Friday. "I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra."
This isn't DeGeneres's first time as emcee on Hollywood's biggest night — she also hosted the show in 2007. Her hosting style was in line with her typical chatty charm, though she did work in some zingers for the famous faces in the room. She also delivered a classic one-liner when she quipped: ''Let's be honest. It's not that we don't have time for long speeches. We don't have time for boring speeches.''
As for what not to expect? "We Saw Your Boobs" song and dance numbers. DeGeneres has more tricks up her sleeve than that.
The show will air Sunday, March 2, 2014.
