AGAIN!! Prisonners Escape From Nigerian Prison
No fewer than eight condemned criminals have escaped from Daura Prison in Katsina State following a jailbreak. National Mirror learnt that the inmates capitalised on a downpour on Tuesday night to escape from the cell.
Sources said that the criminals meticulously planned their escape, unknown to officials. A source, who did not want his name mentioned, said the prisoners escaped through a ditch they dug within the prison premises. He said they must have secretly spent weeks to dig the ditch to facilitate their escape.
The source said: “Although we were not allowed move close to the prison, but officials told us that the prisoners dug a ditch in their cells through which they escaped.”
National Mirror also gathered that all efforts to re-arrest the runaway criminals have failed as a search party dispatched by the prison authority to re-capture them came back empty handed.
When National Mirror visited the Katsina Prison Command, a Deputy Comptroller said that the Public Relations Officer was involved in an accident while the Comptroller was away on official assignment.
Asked about the incident, the Deputy Comptroller simply said: “I am not authorized to speak. You know everybody has his own limitations and therefore it is not my mandate to speak.”
