"Drug addict MJ accidentally killed himself"

Michael Jackson's former personal physician Conrad Murray has insisted that the late singer accidentally ended his own life after injecting himself with a lethal dose of a surgical anaesthetic.

The cardiologist, who was recently released from Californian jail after serving two years for manslaughter in the death of Jackson, has for the first time spoken publically, while claiming that he did not kill the King of Pop, the Independent reported.

Murray, whose medical license has been revoked, said that Jackson was, by the time he died, "a decrepit man".

Murray said that Jackson, who was at the time preparing for a series of comeback concerts in London, was under enormous pressure. He wanted to do the London shows and then buy a family home, probably in Vegas, but night after night he would tell the doc he didn't feel he had the capacity to do it.

On 25 June 2009, the day of his death, Murray said when Jackson returned home at 1am after rehearsals for the tour, he was hysterical and was begging the doc to give him propofol.

He claimed that at the time Jackson was withdrawing from another drug, demerol, an analgesic that was being given to the singer by another doctor and Murray had no idea about it.
